Hygiene concerns arise from the frequent handling of manual door handles and push plates, potentially leading to the spread of pathogens and infection risks. Additionally, using hands to operate the doors can be burdensome for patients and staff, especially when hands are unclean or when carrying items. This can also pose accessibility challenges for patients and elderly individuals using wheelchairs or walkers. Moreover, manual door operation may lead to decreased efficiency during times of congestion in medical facilities.

Hospitals have widely adopted automatic doors, and push buttons are used to prevent unnecessary opening and closing. However, the frequent touching of sensors and buttons raises hygiene concerns. To address this, touchless switches that allow opening by simply waving a hand without physical contact can provide a hygienic and smooth passage, even after disinfection.

Our AIR-SLIDE 2 provides touchless passage and clear touchless plate, creating a comfortable and hygienic environment for everyone.

A Sense of Reassurance Without Touch and Hygiene Management

The OPTEX AIR-SLIDE 2 offers one narrow activation zone. By marking a zone on the doors or the wall the narrow zone can be used as a virtual touchless switch for activating the doors. The pushbutton function will minimize false openings, making it ideal for hospital or kitchen door applications. All rows are active as soon as the sensor is activated.

The sensor will also work as a regular activation and safety sensor offering adjustable activation zones and full door safety and replaces additional safety sensors.

Advantages to use OPTEX's touchless sensor

This solution not only enables touchless passage, but also incorporates a safety feature called BLUEZONE on the door threshold, which keeps the door open even if employees, children, or the elderly stop right under the door, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

This provides the benefit of simultaneously managing hygiene and ensuring safety.
