Fiber Optik sensor

OPTEX’s fiber optic sensors are manufactured by FiberSensys, a group company of OPTEX and the only fiber sensor manufacturer offering products compliant with the U.S. Air Force’s PL-1 security standard. These sensors provide advanced perimeter protection solutions and have been trusted for over 25 years in the critical sites.

The detection mechanism is based on laser pulses transmitted through fiber optic cables installed along fences or other perimeter structures. When external vibrations or pressure are applied to the cable, the characteristics of the light traveling through it change. These changes are continuously monitored by the Alarm Processing Unit (APU), which uses advanced algorithms to analyze and classify the signals. The system is programmed to generate alarms only in response to disturbances caused by actual intrusion attempts —such as climbing over or cutting the fence— while ignoring environmental factors like wind, nearby traffic vibrations or small animal movements.
